I agree the car is great except the idle. I do also wonder about that "dog bone" style engine torque bar under the front end of the car right of the oil filter. This torque support has a sliding piece of rubber in the mount to allow the engine to move. I have replaced this mount with no noticable change in idle feedback quality. I have been tempted to take the old mount and center the sliding piece and use winshield polyurethane and fill the mount to stop the movement to see what effect this has on the idle quality. I don't see how the rocker movement of the engine being allowed could cause anything but trouble causing a larger thump going into gear. It sort of reminds me of my old boat trailer I had one time. It had hydraulic surge brakes on it that were long gone. The sliding toung on the trialer would slide and thump each time you stoped and took off due to the allowed movement. I was in a closed community and only trailered 1/4 mile to launch I did not want to spend the money on an old trailer with new brakes so I drilled a hole through the mechanism(would have to cut it off and weld on a new one to fix anyway) and put a graded bolt in it. Smooth pulling from that point forward.
