Thanks for all of your advises, guys. I really appreciate it.
At the inspection today, the mechanics found the following problems:
1) need complete flush of transmission (~$275)
2) recommend new battery does to age (~$125)
3) need drive belts ($175)
4) oil leak at back of engine -- need more time to check
5) muffler leaks (~500)
I'm especially concerned about (4). I read a few posts on this
board and it seems that this could be caused by the cracked oil
pan or something else. The current owner tells me that during
his last visit, the dealer said that there's some kit from SAAB
for $198 to get this fixed when this becomes a problem.
I really like the car, and would love to buy it but the idea that
I'll have to spend many more buck$ to get it in a good shape is
bothering me. My coworker owns another 2000 95 Aero, and he said
that his car was in a need for constant repairs during and even
after the factory warranty expired. He even offered me to buy
his 95 for less than this guys sells it for. I've been pretty
lucky with my 9-3 so far, but looks like older 9-5s are simply
less prone to all kinds of little failures here and there.
Just check out this guy's service history....

Is that basically what I'm getting myself into? Please say "no" ;-)
I'm debating with myself about getting some Japanese car instead,
but then again, they're just so not fun to drive.
