Saving money is secondary. Satisfaction from seeing a job well done, by yourself, is primary.
Have been a DIY buff since young. From household repairs to "servicing" cars, where it is within my ability, I will do it myself. Vehicles nowadays are getting more complicated and the use of more electronic meant that they are great challenges for DIYs.
Used to do simple service on my Japanese cars. No problems. Found Saab and other continental cars, more difficult to DIY. Even the removal of door panel etc are pretty difficult. No problem for Japanese cars.
