You'll notice right away that the saab is a nicer car with more features and slightly more quality feel. The new subs are nice and much improved over past subaru's. the sub offers all wheel drive obviously which is an advantage or disadvantage depending on who you ask. In terms of performance the saab turbo seems much more responsive and spool up was different. The sub revs higher though.
On a mountain grade out of Colorado Springs, the saab 5-speed, Aero when at 2200 rpm in 5th gear had no problem comming on boost and accelerating up the mountain. The 5speed subie in the exact place at the exact speed just bogged and would not accelerate, I had to dip into 4th gear and wait to get rpms up close to 3000 at highway speeds to get response from the turbo.
The saab with the same horsepower feels significantly stronger and clearly has a broader torque range based on seat of pants.
Put them on dry ground and the saab would dominate, put them on a snow packed road and the subie will smoke the saab.
