I have a 2000 Wagon and have been driving around Denver under the same conditions. There has been a lot of ice on the roads near my house and a few spots in Boulder. I haven't even bothered with Winter Mode. My snow tires basically make the mode moot. I had a trip from H. Ranch to Boulder during the worst of the weather with no problems. I got lucky in that all the accidents were in the other direction both ways!

I have never bought a vehicle based on what safety features the car has. I am more into how I can avoid the accident; hence, snow tires. I also don't care what the Insurance Institute ratings say either. When was the last time you had a head-on collision with an immovable object without hitting the brakes? Those tests are rediculous. Put a friggin' spike on everyone's steering wheel and people would just drive more carefully. All these safety features make people feel invincible.

My opinion: Go test drive some cars and buy what you like. If you like the Acura TL or something else, go get it. No Saab owner will feel slighted. If I were to buy something other than a Saab, it would be actually assembled in Japan (not just a Japanese make) or Germany (not a Kentucky Merc or a Mexican VW).
