Known issues very low...... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Questions b4 buying 00-02 9-5 AERO wagon, Hobart, Fri, 3 Feb 2006 10:51:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Saab's not about to close it's service departments, but the overall incidence of known issues or non-maintenance, non-routine issues for any 9-5 is very low indeed. Minor services/oil changes every 10k and major services every 30k miles can vary widely in price, and quality too, and aren't any more expensive than any other European car or Japanese car or domestic for that matter, that is a Saab doesn't require any extra maintenance in reference to other brands because it's a Saab.
Overall the 9-5s are durable and reliable and nothing other than common wear items should be anywhere near wearing out at 80k with proper care. You might check the SID for missing pixcels, but that will be obvious even to the unintiated and doesn't bother some folks.
Maintenance costs after purchase should be very satisfactory if you have a good Saab independent mechanic to trust. Or for the highest standards and the highest prices take it to the local Saab dealer forever. If you can afford to do that a Saab won't be comparitively expensive, but will be exceptionally durable and that's the way to have the least hassles and be happiest.
