after my wife died. So now I have my 2000 9-5 Aero sedan and her 2003 9-3 SE convertible. The Aero is my commuter and the 9-3 is for what a convertible should be for, fun in the sun. The only time the top goes up is when I park it at work or some other place where I have to leave it unattended for extended periods.
If you do get the 9-3, plan on spending an extra $700/800 or so on a beefer rear anti-roll bar (22 mm (7/8 inch)), a steering rack brace and the wind screen that goes behind the front seats (I got them from site sponsor from Nick Taliaferro at genuinesaab.com). You already have the double 3 spoke 17 inch wheels (I added mine with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires last year). These changes did wonders for the ride and handling, except for the wind screen which just makes top down driving a whole lot more comfortable.
If you can't afford to keep both, go for the convertible, everybody should have on at least once in their life.
My convertible is Merlot Red by the way, and a real beauty.
Brooks,
