know how much and how often you haul stuff in the wagon. If it were only a question of driving it, I would never have had any 4 (or more) door Saabs. Alas, it is not only a question of driving it, for me, but also carrying people and stuff, so I'd never owned a Saab with less than 4 doors until last year, when I bought my first Saab CV.
And before you do anything rash, do a "back to back" drive comparision between the 2003 CV, last of the breed of the NG900 design, and a 2004 or later 9-3 CV. You may or may not have a change of heart. In favor of the 2003,
it has those wonderful Viggen style seats, which you won't get on the new cars.
it is lighter, for better real world fuel economy
it features a fold-down rear seat, the only generation Saab CV to do so
it is known technology.
On the other hand, the handling and body rigidity pales by comparison to the new CV. The new CV body is stiffer than the old generation 9-3 hatchback.
Engine sludge is not an issue.
SID pixel loss is not an issue.
Top toneau motor gear failure is not an issue.
The new 9-3 CV is the first (and possibly only) CV to receive 5 star safety from the Euro NCAP program (this includes offset frontal impact and side impact)
Pricing for a 2006 CV starts at about $32K if you can fly to Sweden to take delivery through IDS.
