The difference in internal oil capacity might be as little as one cup (8 ounces) so I can't the the need to add extra, but the increase in media capacity might be 100%!
I started using them after seeing too many changes in AC's PF53 filter. Originally an exact match to the SAAB filter (complete with additional ring crimped into the side of the can) they have seen two sourcing changes. The top cap on a PF53 is now a depressed plate resulting in a further reduction in media capacity.
