Couldn't agree more regarding the speedo. One of several things that really struck me as clever and well thought out was the speedo. I have absolutely zero requirement to see precisely how fast I'm going once above 140kmh, it's totally irrelevant as I will have lost my licence already anyhow, but in the 40-120kmh zone the precision provided by the offset layout is brilliant.
I agree the instrument cluster needed a fresh look, but surely could have stuck with that way of operation. I don't even see it as a cost measure, as they are most likely stepper motor controlled dials anyhow, it's just a software thing. Unless they were REALLY cheap and are using the actual dial faces off some generic GM thing. Tell me they're not...
Like someone here said - you don't see Camry bits inside a Lexus!
