Ed,
I got a 2000 Aero wagon last year - love it.
1. No idea
2. Yes, if it hasn't already been done.
3. Already rotated from elsewhere most likely.
4. 90k km service on mine includes the serpentine belt, along with most filters and stuff.
5. Has a chain, not usually a service item.
Regardless of the history, take off the valve cover and check for oil sludge and/or granular deposits. You'll most likely find some 'varnishing' and granules in the timing chain area unless it's really been serviced significantly more frequently than the (insufficient) recommendations of Saab. Not necessarily a deal breaker but if there's significant sludge etc run like hell.
Search "breganzane" and you'll find a link to my web page on the sludge check I did for my own peace of mind.
Things you might have to do:
Wheel bearings - don't seem to last long.
Battery - ditto.
Throttle body - clean and/or replace at some stage
Crank Position Sensor - occasionally fail but do so gradually.
PCV System- very poor quality hoses crack, one-way valve fails, contributes to the sludge issue.
DIC - under recall
SID - I fixed mine for free using the info here.
All that might sound bad to some, but most is not expensive and if it's all done preventatively should lead to a very reliable and cheap luxury performance car.
Cheers
Steve
