a master tech once told me that the design change from the horizontal TB to the vertical TB coupled with the PCV design is what probably is causing the problem. Lets see, Saab has had IV mods to the PCV system that I am aware of. They have also moved to the use of Full Synthetic changed more fequently than the previous recommendation for Dyno Oil. I fortunately have no sludge in mny 9-5 but have had other significant problems with the engine. Two headgasket replacements due to faulty headgasket design/material and PCV system - oil weeping out from headgasket. Because the head has been off twice the condition relative to no sludge is easy to determine. Primary oil has been Mobil 1 changed at 5K intervals since new. Just offering more experience with this latest version of what used to be a bullet proof engine.
