Blaine, I also run the tires on my 99 Wagon between 34 and 35 psi, because I was hoping to prevent some of the inside edge wear on the rears.
I recently had the rear struts changed, and was thinking of backing off the pressure to the recommended levels.
I have National Ovations (made by Yokohama), a performance touring type all-season, with about 30000 miles on them, and I am not getting close to the wear bars yet. I wonder if it has something to do with the tread compound on the Avon tires.
I used to work with Dupont, in the tire business, and I remember from my courses in Akron that a lot can change in the tire dynamics, depending on the tire cords in the sidewalls, the tread reinforcement layer, and the tread compounds.
In your case, drop back to the recommended levels. The ride will be better, and you should decrease the wear rate on the central ribs.
Cheers,
CrNiFe
