If you have no air coming from center vents it is a second problem on top of the code 8 problem.
The much talked about code 8 is for the heater blend doors down by the footwell but if no air is coming out the center vent, it is another little plastic crank that has broken too.
No, the 60K service could not have caused the problem, but the manufacturer of the car did when making that lousy/weak design.
100% of the 9-5 (at least early ones) will have that problem in their lifetime.
If it is not broken yet, it is possible to install a beefed up stop arm that hopefully will hold up and keep the car from not breaking the arm to blend/temp doors.
It is still a little bit of tinkering to replace those stop arms but a lot easier than repairing the broken arm further in when it happens.
Here in LA,CA very few customers complain about that fault since we are not using the heat in such a manner that the broken arms will make a difference.
The crank for no center vent air is easy to replace when the glove compartment is removed and some covers and motors are removed on A/C housing.
