How easy is it to replace the DIC?

My independent Saab/Volvo mechanic tells me that the DIC in my 1999lpt is starting to fail. I have no reason to doubt him-- he has the proper diagnostic tools, the car starts hard occasionally, the gas mileage is comparatively low (24mpg, majority highway miles) I need to stab the gas pedal during the start, and the engine has always sounded a bit rough (I bought the car used with 72K on the odo) compared with my late, great '99 9-3.

I found a new DIC online from one of TSN's advertisers. The question is: is this something I can do in my driveway, or should I let the pros have a run at it, seeing as they have the testing rigs? Bear in mind that I tend to skew towards the mechanically dis-inclined side of the ledger, but I have mechanic friends and beer at the ready.

Any DIY DIC installers out there who have stories to tell?
