The DI is dead easy, five minutes work - 4 little Torx screws and an electrical connector to unplug.
But if you have it off, you'll want to check/replace the spark plugs, which are more likely the source of your running problems, since 9-5 DIC's generally fail all at once with a puff of smoke. Then you need to have a spark plug wrench, gap gauge, copper anti-seize for the threads, and dielectric grease for the rubber boot around the plug (only if you're not replacing the DI, since new DIs are lubed from the factory).
My 4cyl 9-5 takes me about 15 minutes to R&R DI and replace 4 plugs. In my driveway since my garage is full of other car projects. Just did the front struts in the driveway this afternoon, in the rain.
