On Monday i replaced the orginial fuel filter on my 2000 aero with 155K miles. I had only driven my son to school once since i replaced the filter (5 miles round trip) I was suprised that i did not notice more of a performance improvement with the new filter, but today i found out why...

While driving in a very busy section of road (Between the airport and the Maine mall, start of the Maine Mall road, for all you Mainer.) when i notice my check engine light and the TCS light. I made a qucik move onto a side street, but did not make it. Died right in the center lane. After trying many times i called AAA and waited. After about 30 tries i got it running to get it onto a side road. Towed to dealer. Dealer tech II read, P1231 (TPS out of range), P1521 (PPS out of range), P0455 (Evap leak), P0441 (Evap purge valve fault), P0420 (Cat converter malfunction). Dealer presented me with a $2300 bill for a new cat conv, new purge valve, and new throttle body. After they picked me up off the floor, i know i could replace the TB seeing how i cleaned my about 2 months ago, and could not afford the cat conv i had them fix the purge valve. While waiting i called eeuroparts and the TB will be here in the morning for $404 with both gakets. Deal charged me $324 for the purge valve.

When i got home I called Saabusa and asked for a new cat conv. I explained that when my DIC blow prior to the start of the recall, but after i received the letter about the recall, all that was repaired was the DIC. After about a 40 minute conversation i was told i would have a reply by morning about my request.

Has anyone tried this? do i have a chance in heck in getting a new cat conv by SaabUSA?
