Dash squeak

Hello! I am a happy 2006 9-5 owner facing an annoying problem: persistent high-pitched dash squeaking that seems to come from a 4-6 inch section of the dash immediately in front of the driver where the dash meets the instrument panel. As the temperature drops, it seems to get worse. It goes away for a time if I "gently" pound the dash in that area with my hand. Needless to say I don't see that as a permanent solution. Lifting the dash away from the instrument panel does not seem to help, nor does squeezing the dash and instrument panel together. I'm not sure whether the dash and panel are rubbing or whether something under the dash is rubbing underneath. Any suggestions from similarly afflicted Saab owners?
I'm a first-time Saab owner and my last car was a 2001 Honda Accord V6. General comments about the car (bought early March): The edgy styling took a little getting used to but I like it; it's definitely not bland. Great suspension and brakes. The 2.3T engine is powerful, torquey and very efficient (33+ mpg on long trips at highway speeds with climate control running). So what if it is not as "refined" as a Honda V6; it has more personality. Great seats. Nice sound system. I appreciate the level of thought and care that Saab (even under GM) has put into the design and features large and small. It's a great car.
