Hi! I loved my Accord EX V6 and owned a 1998 Civic EX prior to it; befroe that VW Jettas (85, 91) and a VW Fox (90). As I was researching new cars, I thought to myself that I should probably have my head examined for leaving Honda (including its upscale stablemate Acura). However, I wanted a car I could feel passionate about. My 01 Accord provided superb transportation, but it was, well, sort of an appliance that inspired no more passion than the average washing machine. IMHO, the Acura TL would have been an excellent and logical choice, but isn't it little more than a gussied-up Accord? I'd long had an attraction to Saabs and in college (mid-80s) briefly dated a girl who had just been given a Saab (1975 99 automatic as I recall, but I digress). I had the chance to drive it for a day and was hooked. So even though my Saab dealer is 50+ miles away, it was a logical place for me to start. I test drove a 9-3, a 9-3 Aero and the 9-5 and never made it to the other dealerships on my list that day (Acura and Volvo). I left with a "base" 2006 9-5 in Chili Red Metallic, i.e. without the Sport or Visibility packages, which added too much to the price; the base 9-5 was already at the top of my price range. I loved the 9-3s but I am glad I made the stretch for the 9-5.
