Are they Akebono Euro pads?

Erik:
I have the Akebono Euro Ceramic pads and plain Zimmerman rotors on the front of my 1999 9-5 SE V6 and quite like them. I did experience a need for slightly higher pedal pressure until a few hundred km had passed but to me they feel as good as the OEM items and without ANY dust as you say.
I did not have to bleed my brakes. I suppose if my brakes felt as you describe yours, I would bleed to see if that helped. It is also absolutely vital that you cleaned all mating surfaces of any trace of rust or debris to ensure firm contact between new pad plates and brake piston face and caliper "hooks" that squeeze the pads. I used some anti-squeal compound too but sparingly to minimize possible sponginess. On my old Toyota Cressida, I had very poor front brakes until I removed the flaky anti-squeal shims that had corroded badly.
BTW, the bed-in instructions at Tire Rack for the Euro pads advise against excessively hard braking as some recommend for other pads. I can't imagine you pads are glazed. I don't even know if that is possible with a ceramic type.
