I carry them and the one time I needed them (when the road was frozen over with ice) I decided to wait for the plow to come through and drop magnesium chloride on the roads. I am too spoiled by Subaru performance in snow and only carry the chains in case of emergency. How the hell do they go on anyway?
If you live in Colorado you'll be fine, the snow will be gone by Thursday. If you live in WA you will need chains this weekend. Only two locations I can think of receiving a lot of snow this week. I work in the avalanche safety industry and watch these storms pretty closely.
