I bought my 1999 9-5 used from the original owner and the new Kumho tires she put on were great for the summer but turned into noisy cupped Fred Flintstone wheels by the next year. I understand the importance of tire rotation, but trying to compensate for a possible design error by spreading the tire wear to all tires is not my idea of a good solution!! Since then, I chewed up a few more rear tires before I first got a hold of the camber shims that none of the tire shops I went to had any clue of...Having swapped out my stock suspension on my 1999 9-5 for a 2001 Aero roadholding type, the car lowered slightly (yet still within factory spec). Nonetheless, the rears are lumpity bumpity again... I've heard from a fellow Saab enthusiast who recommends shimming the camber to zero. He feels the 9-5 is sufficiently heavy in the rear to maintain stability and not require the splayed out tire chewing negative camber. With this setup, the tire wear should be more even across the tire. I'll see when I get around to doing the shim work again.
