I think the V-6 is less to worry about. Seems like a tough engine except for the cam-belt, idler, tensioner maintenance every 60K miles. As B.Millar said, no sludging, head bolt, head gasket issues with V-6. There isn't as much blow-by into the crankcase with the V-6 either keeping the oil cleaner - longer. I guess I should mention the V-6 has a history of the oil-cooler leaking and the cooling thermostat replacement is expensive. To me, it's too bad they quit using the Vauxhall V-6 (2003 is the last year). I do think the 4 cylinder SAAB's have better balance. I'm assuming the 6-cylinder is a heavier engine? I wonder how the 3.2 liter Vauxhall would fit into a V-6 SAAB? They used those in the 2003 Cadillac CTS.
