The V6 is a great engine. If you keep up with the timing belt AND tensioners every 60k miles you will have a great engine for a long time that is for the most part more reliable than the 4-cylinder. 4-cylinders are prone to sludge, pcv problems, head gasket problems, head bolt issues, the list goes on... I have a 2001 V6 with 165k miles on it right now. The turbo seals leak some oil and I think I am starting to have alternator issues but it still runs great and is a true road rocket.
