IF? you open up the timing cover you SHOULD replace timing chain and guides.
IF? you want the balance shaft system to work you should as a minumim replace balance shaft chain, guides and tensioner and take a good look at the sprockets for balance shafts.
If you go with disabling the balance shafts, you only need to remove the chain.
You can read more about that on the NG900/OG9-3 board since it has not been talked about that much on the 9-5 board.
