My current 2003 9.5 is my first autobox as well. A little hesitant at first when I bought it, but the auotbox is very intuitive and I hardly use the paddles. I do enjoy going manual on the small New England roads, though. I keep it in 3rd and that's all I need. The turbo and lower end torque makes 3rd my favorite gear. "S" mode is so good, I don't really miss the manual. Especially in the rare traffic I may run into.
