I usually go to the Dealer on the north side of Houston about 15 minutes from my home in Kingwood TX. I have has mostly good experience with them, but they do not have an alignment rack. When I started having concerns about the rear camber I went to a SAAB/KIA dealer about one hour away on the south side of town that I have had nothing but problems with, but they have an alignment rack. They charged me $109 for the alignment and said that the rear camber is out and not adjustable. They suggested new shocks and springs for about $700 to bring it within specs. I asked why this in not covered under my CPO warranty. He told me that the car had obviously been overloaded. I told him the car has never been overloaded and I asked how he came to this obvious conclusion. He said “you have a trailer hitch”. I reminded him that SAAB offers trailer hitches in the official SAAB accessory catalog. He told me my hitch was not a SAAB hitch (it’s a DrawTite). I asked how who makes the hitch helps him determine how or if it was ever used. I also told him that I did not like being called a liar. Then he changed his story and told me shocks and springs are “wear items” and not covered under warranty. I can see how shocks might be considered a wear item, but I have never had to replace a set of springs that just “wore out”.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I called SAAB USA to ask about the shocks and springs being under warranty. They are under warranty and my local dealer is going to start by replacing the shocks. My local dealer has a Firestone place down the street that does all of their alignment work and is familiar with SAAB. I have SAAB USA trying to get my $109 dollars back that I paid to the other dealer for my alignment.
