We had a few bad valve bodies. You would not expect that from Japanese transmissions, but it happened. If you go to the full synthetic oil (required year 2004 and up) I am told that it will last 10k miles. I think 7,500 is probably a better number. I have seen no engine failures since the full synthetic was introduced. 10k is probably OK. I remeber pulling the valve cover on an 85 eight valve (B201i) at about 50k and it looked brand new. The guy had been using M1 since day one and everybody in the shop came over to see it. This was a naturally aspirated (non turbo) engine, but I was impressed at how clean it was.
The heater valve blows out on all the newer 9-5's. I don't know if they have fixed it, but I can't remember fixing the same car twice.
I'm guessing that the light relay was for the left high beam not working. There have been recent posts about a possible simple repair. Similarly I have never had to repair this twice on the same car.
I will chance a suggestion here. Change the pcv valve every 10 or 20k miles. If it fails, turbo boost will push oil out through the timing cover.
