Check for signs of oil sludging - poke into the crankcase with a wire hanger and/or remove the valve cover. If there are no signs I would not do the flush. If there are the sludge needs to be removed prior to the flush - you just risk freeing up chunks of sludge that may clog oil passages.
Switching to synthetic should not be a problem (typically). Mobil [1] 0w40 every 10k miles is what now specified by Saab.
There are two 2.3L engine choices: LPT (low pressure turbo) and HOT (high output turbo). Which one is yours? Regardless the price is too good. Is there anything wrong with the car?
