I have an 06 with the slushbox. Having grown up with GM - THM-400 and Chrysler Torqueflite 727s, I switched to a stick through the 80's and 90's. The reason was no matter what I drove with an auto, it always seemed to be looking for the right gear and / or convertor clutch state. When I replaced my 1999 9-3 last year, I thought it might be time to get an autobox. There are those on this board who rave about the auto tranny in the 9-5, but I am not one of them. Maybe I am overly sensitive, but the shudder that comes through the throttle linkage as it looks for a gear or convertor lock is annoying. Furthermore, let off the trottle at 40, coast to 30 and nail it. The delay and hashness are unacceptable. Interestingly enough, my 06 9-3 (2.0) doesn't bother me, nor does my sis-in-law's Aero Convertible with the V6. The manumatic feature is not any better. Personally I prefer the 9-3 setup over the paddle switches. Bottom line is if I could turn back the clock it would be a 6 speed.
