Quick fix: SAAB USA just does very little to push sales
with better margins.
SAAB USA only sells +/- 30000 cars a year in the US market
so obviously any move to sell a 1000 extra should be considered
by them until they get more models.
The current move to sell as many 9-3s and 9-5s as possible
using large discounts and the like will ultimately not
help them to generate profits.
To give you an example... When Lancia released its
Delta EVOII model they build 1224 units... then they
added over 2300 of so called special edition models
on top of that. 200 like this, 300 like that etc.
each as a different collectible... after that of course
they FIAT killed the Delta and Lanica got into big
trouble. But that's a different story..
The point is that so called limited editions do sell
if they are different, nicely equiped and affordable!
SO why not do the following:
300 Special Edition 9-3s in RED
300 Special Edition 9-3s in Black
300 Special Edition 9-3s in Silver
Each with a plate inside ie. 77/300 and so on.
That's 900 cars.
Each with a 2.0L +/- 200 HP engine, Special leather and
each with its own leather color and a few other
things no other 9-3 has, but keeping it around +/- $26000
after discounts.
The we add:
300 Special Edition 9-5s in Silver
300 Special Edition 9-5s in Black
300 Special Edition 9-5s in RED
Another 900 cars.
Each with a 2.3L +/- 270 HP engine, Special leather and
each with its own leather color and a few other
things no other 9-5 has, but keeping it around +/- $36000
after discounts.
I leave it to SAAB USA to decide on Wagon, Sedan, 3 door
or 5 door for each car... and there should also be a convertible
limited edition.
I think that doing this, they could sell another 2000-3000 cars
each year... if not more, cause when one edition is sold out
you simply create a new one with differences in colors and
equipment.
To build the cars, SAAB USA can be smart by having SAAB
building them as close to spec as needed and then only
adding the mods form tunners they need to create the special
edition. Rims should be nice alloys for all of these,
just cheaper to put em in in the first place.
SAAB USA could also have a company in Sweden do all the mods
for them.. or they just do it somewhere in the US
depending on what is less expensive.
I would also suggest using a fair price system, by pricing those
special editions very reasonable but offering 0 discounts...
due to high demand... LOL
