Code 8 Fixed--Things to Watch For

J ahd a code 8 problem, found it was the sop arm, put ina new one, and it wasn't solved.
After research here and on other Saab boards I re-did my work and found what I did wrong. I just want to post this up to help anyone who gets a bit confused by this process.
I had the driver's side stop arm to fix (left side, USA). The two things I can add is it may be necessary to disassemble the motor to make sure the gear inside is all the way in to hwere it should be on the shaft--no morethan 1 mm outside. And alignment of the motor is critical. It was not apparent on my first try how to line it up correctly when the motor was reinstalled. It takes a really good look with a light to peer in to where the motor shaft will go and figure out the alignment of the female end. You then figure out where the motor must be rotated to for the male/female alignment - and then you can power up the car and start a claibration and kill the motor at that point. After I did both of these, I installed and no more codes. And it is operating correctly.
BTW--it's a real PITA to operate the clutch by your hand from while lying on your back under the wheel, feet out to the back seat, while your helper starts the car!
I hope this is helpful to someone!
