The replacement turbo came out of a donor car, which had no symptoms of any issues. The smoke is mostly white, but you can smell the oil being burned. Before the repair it was blowing the same color, but probably more blue-ish.
The car was running perfectly for years, no smoking at all. One day a few weeks ago, it started to sputter a bit, and you could hear the turbine driveshaft going; it was making this metallic scratching sound under any sort of load. At that point, it started smoking. At the same time, the hose that connects from the pcv to the valve cover (the big one that connects with the nipple) exploded, I'm not sure if that was coincidence. I got the car home like this. Once home, I could start the car, and it idled perfectly normal, with some blue-ish smoke. I replaced the turbo and pcv update #6, and now when it idles it pours mostly white, perhaps blue smoke (burning oil smell). I doubt head gasket, it has never overheated, showed signs of any leaks, or burning prior to the turbine shredding.
I can't figure out how much oil was in the intake system or intercooler, I am just hoping that there is still some trapped in there that needs to be sucked out.
