The only differences between the numbers is the aluminum mounting bracket.
On that engine, the middle idler pulley is swept forward compared to the older style.
If you look at my picture, the idler is right smack in the middle but yours is forward.
That is also the reason why the belts have two different sets of marks for different year engines.
When you handcrank the engine, always rotate the engine in the running direction. They have a bad habit of pushing oil backwards through the system and fill up the lifters so that you don't have any compression when it's time to start.
Don't ask me why, but it happened a couple of times in the beginning when I replaced belts for the first time and rotated the engine back and forth several times.
Now I only rotate the engine one way (clockwise on the crank pulley)and have never had a problem again.
Please let me know the outcome. I would be very hesitant to do what you do, due to different piston shape and compression ratio and camshafts being an engine from a non turbo car.
