Same thing happened to me a few months back. Since the motor is turning, the motor is probably fine. (granted there are many failure scenarios here, but this is likely the switch)
I was able to to clean the switch with a combination of contact cleaner and compressed air, and get it working again. However I carry a spare now (ordered a used switch pack from goldwing).
My experience with saab switches is that they can be cleaned a finite number of times before they totally give up the ghost.
BTW the switch pack prys out of the console easily, just use a butter knife and be careful not to gouge the plastic.
