I have never heard of or seen an on/off no start symptom being related to an IDM but maybe the dealers see other cars than I do?
To me it is very strange why the dealer tech cannot park the car on the side with engine running and hood closed until the car dies and then run over and do the test, or, as I said, they might have done that and determined that it is not the CKP sensor.
That's why it would be a good idea for you to take the reading yourself so that you don't keep pushing an issue that might not be relevant.
If you see an Ohm reading of several 1000th of Ohm or even open circuit when the engine stalled and then after 30 min, the reading is down to about 1000 or lower and the engine start, well, then it is no more doubt about it and you can just keep pushing the issue until they cave in.
Just keep in mind to use the DVOM correctly so that you have the proper range scale set.
