I owned a 91 maxima for 12 years and over 100,000 miles. I loved the car for the first few years. After that, I tolerated it. It went through brakes and I could never keep the alignment correct.Furthermore, the interior was worn out after 7 years. The Bose speakers blew out at the five year mark. The car also consumed a quart of oil every two thousand miles. I decided to get rid of it when another car hit my back door at about 3 miles per hour and completely caved it in. I love my 2003 Aero. I just returned from a road trip in comfort as well as getting 30mpg. The car does not burn oil. The car drives straight, it's fast,,great brakes that last, nice sound system, and one of the best leather seats to be found in this price range. Best of all, it is very safe. A friend of mine was in a head on collision with hers and walked away from the accident. She had just traded her Toyota for the Saab and was she ever glad. The accident investigator told her that she would have been dead in that Toyota. I am sold on the european cars in general. My son owns a BMW that is also a wonderful car. I just have more fun driving my Saab. The japanese cars may be more reliable, but I find them boring after a few years of ownership. They also have their weak points, suspension components being a major one. A friend teaches front end suspension work at a local junior college and confirms this. All of this being said, My Saab looks, drives, and feels like a new car after 5 years of ownership.
