Well, I sure rolled the dice when I bought my 00 9-3 SE with 42k on it back in the fall of 03. It was an off lease car in pristine condition with no records whatsover, I got it cheap from a broker that buys cars from auctions. I have had the car for over four years now at 121k. This car is as good as the day I got it, and has had virtually nothing go wrong with it, not even a missing pixel, in fact, I still have the original back brakes. Boy was I lucky...I probably would not chance this again.
I would think that Saab would not allow or underwrite certification and provide an extended warranty on a car with a poor, sketchy or undocumented service record. One would think that would be basic criteria for CPO. If a buyer of a CPO car gets stuck with a blown motor shortly afterward that is not honored by Saab due in no part to the neglect by the purchaser of the CPO Saab, then what is the CPO premuim worth? Little or nothing? Should get something for a 2.8k premuim.
