Sorry if I am restating what others have already said, but I know I like to hear many opinions when I have a question and I like it even more when they all line up. In short, don't worry much at all about the turbo in your car. The Mitsubishi TD-04 in the Aero is a very good turbo and will last a very long time. No guarantees on it lasting the life of the car but you're definitely fine for a very long time (more than 200k).

IF it does "go," you will have plenty of warning. I will share with you my story. I like to include lots of details so you can stop reading at any point, you won't hurt my feelings. My car, a 2001 3.0t V6, has a Garrett turbo on it which began to blow blue smoke at startup at around 162k miles. They don't even usually last this long, but the previous owner put a buttload of highway miles on it so the turbo didn't get as much use. After about a year of having it blow smoke on startup, it began to blow inconceivable amounts of blue smoke after moderate to hard acceleration (merging onto the highway became a freak show). Aside from people giving me looks like "your car looks like it's is about to implode on itself" at stop lights I kept driving it. Putting some thicker oil in made it slightly less painful. (By the way, I'm 18 and a college freshman so money is more or less nonexistent in my life right now, don't ask how the hell I thought I could afford a 9-5...) Anyway, after doing some research and begging my parents to help me out, I finally found that eventually the seals will "pop" and send shards of turbo impeller flying into the engine and raw oil niagra-falls"ing" into my brand new catalytic converter. This tidbit finally caught the attention of my father who finally agreed to help me out (i.e. I sacrifice Christmas and Birthday presents for the foreseeable future). Got it rebuilt at my local Saab shop for around $1500 at 172k miles. Turns out that I was driving on borrowed time- the seal on the exhaust side had come off completely and was buzzing around in the housing, destroying the housing. I still get a little smoke on startup every once in a while from lingering oil, but all else is fine. And my Saab and I live happily ever after (knocking on wood).
