Thanks Anders! seems I have something on my hands. I just quit because I started to get irritated and it got late ( I'm in Europe). Gives me time to think about a tool that can apply sufficient force.
Good suggestion re. upper radiator hose. I am just a bit wary: how big is the chance I am going to break that plastic neck on the radiator side??
Work progressing there is just one hose I found that had disintegrated: the elbow-shaped fitting on the PCV box to the rear of the engine (PN4527222)connecting towards the turbo pipe. The oil had finally got to it I guess. Some 8 years will probably the max. lifespan for that hose before it gets soft and breaks. Something to keep in mind, probably?
