Well..........that thought crossed my mind too Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 03:00:27 In Reply to: Re: Remote battery pack installed this afternoon...., SWEDECAR [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 24 Feb 2008 18:54:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Totalling the cost of the incorrect batteries I installed in Oct/Nov of 2006, plus the cost of yesterday's work, I have spent around $50 (and three hours of my time) to avoid spending $400 for a new siren. I am still money ahead.
The other good news is that although I received two STA messages yesterday afternoon within 20 minutes of driving time, I received no messages today on my one hour commute to work. I am congratulating myself on a successful repair!
But I agree that these self "repairs" are only for those of us crazy enough to forge ahead just to prove it can be done. Never tell an engineer that something is impossible.
I also had the advantage of being able to use the circuit board soldering equipment my son is still storing in our basement from his under-grad days as an audio engineering student. These semi-specialized tools are not counted in the $50 cost above.
