I'd probably go with the 2003 if I were you, but that's not to say the 2001 is bad either. The V6 is a great engine, and does lose a couple MPG's from the 4-cyl, but it's by no means a gas guzzler. Plus you can use low grade gas if you want. I used to but like the extra oomph I get with the higher octane on my 2001 V6 sedan. The 2003 has the updated body style, suspension, and transmission. There's not a terribly huge difference between the 4 and 5 spd autos I don't think. 2003 should still have rear fogs, weather band, and rear heated seats. I think most of the "decontenting" started in 2004. In my 2001 V6 I get about 18.5-19.5 MPG's mixed city and highway driving. Good luck.
