1) I would not "flip" the washer when reusing it. The steel plug tends to groove the surface, while the aluminum pan does not. So, I keep the grooved side towards the plug and the ungrooved toward the oil pan.
2) Every time you torque down on the washer, it gets a little bit thinner and a little bit larger in diameter. I keep using one until the dimensions are noticeably different from a new one, at which time it seems "loose" on the plug.
3) The Purolator Pure One was the second best filter in the famous Delco Premium Filter Comparison from a decade back. The top filter, the Delco Gold, hasn't been made for 4 years at least.
4) The "full" line on the stick is 4 liters, or about 4 quarts and a pint. Using the larger filter adds another half pint or so.
