ASSUMPTION: The message appeared indicating "Time for Service". NOT....the "Check Engine" indicator icon.
IF TRUE: Enjoy your trip. You can reset this reminder indicator yourself before or after your trip. Press and hold the CLEAR button for about 10-15 seconds. First, you'll hear the chime and the word CLEARED will appear after about 4-6 seconds; continue to hold another 8-12 seconds until it chimes again. The word SERVICE will appear. You're done; the message "Time for Service" will not appear when you restart the car.
On the 9-5 the "Time for Service" message appears after about 10K miles. It's a service reminder, and it does not indicate a fault.
ON THE OTHER HAND: If the Check Engine icon (orange light shaped like a engine) goes on when you start the car and stays on steadily (not flashing) you need to address this before your trip.
