CEL's indicate a failing DIC? Why not get it replaced right away and get rid of the CEL rather than letting it go????
As to oil sludging, it's a problem with LOTS of cars, Toyota, VW, Chrysler....
If the car is CPO, just get it fixed.
The Saab 9-5, expecially post 03, is a very reliable car.
