He described it as the oil pressure release valve I believe. It's in the oil pump, so the oil pump needs to be removed from the car to access this thing which means removing tons of stuff, like alternator, exhaust, whole timing setup, oil pan...
"I think around 180k the engine is due for a complete rebuild - its quite common for the piston rings to stick and cause blow by. we always recommend a good oil flush on every oil change - V6 engine also suffer from high oil pressure - its regulated to 5 bar max by a spool valve - but the pump can go upto 10bar before the relief valve cuts in.
the raise in pressure is due to the spool valve either sticking or debris / carbonised oil blocking up the oil hole. a good engine flush usually cleans this out."
I was toward the end of my AutoRX treatment when my turbo bit the dust full-strength, so shouldn't that have cleared it up if this were indeed what's going on?
