FWIW---my 2001 lpt was purchased as a CPO vehicle. The original IDM was replaced at approx 35,000 miles if I remember correctly. The replacement did not qualify me for the SAAB recall, as it was the replacement version. It lasted ~ 100,000 miles. Then I got CEL's---had the codes read at Autozone for free-- which determined it was time to replace it. Got my latest from eeuroparts.
My local SAAB master mechanic says when you replace an IDM, ALWAYS replace the plugs....and always use NGK plugs. I use the copper version BCPR 6 ES-11 ( only 10 bucks for a set of 4) and tighten up the gap to ~0.036". I regap at ~15,000 miles, and change at 30k intervals.
