Per suggestions from TG, Ross, and Steve I measured my ride height (99 4cyl wagon 129K miles) which was 577.87mm. According to the WIS table on Steve's web site (for some reason I just could not find that table on my WIS) the rear camber at that height (16 inch wheels) should be about -1.7 degrees.

Taking my current camber of -1.9 (left) and -2.4 (right)I plan to use one .6mm shim on the left and two .6mm shim on the right. This will bring both sides equal at around -1.3 and slightly less negative than the table value of -1.7. I ordered them from genuinesaab last night.

TG will note that this was his original suggestion to me. My apologies, but my OCD requires me to over analyze everything.

The table (the only one I could find) in my WIS specifies the rear camber at -1.1 to -.6 degrees but does not factor in ride height. This spec is what originally led me to consider using three .6mm shims to bring the camber within this range. If I had decided to use 3 shims I probably would have fused them together using JB Weld along the edges just as insurance because Dean's concern seemed logical, though I am not an engineer or a physicist.

Steve will be interested to know that the shop that measured my alignment told me that the rear camber was so far off that I needed to go to a "frame shop" and have the subframe "tweaked".

However, my only complaint with the car is that it's chewing up tires and there are numerous attestations that shimming the rear camber will correct this problem to my satisfaction.

Sorry Steve, I just don't share your other concerns. But if the sag becomes a safety or drivability issue or if this solution doesn't fix my tire chewing problem I promise to come back and give you the opportunity to tell me "I told you so".

Of course, I am not a mechanic either (that's why I value everyone's input so much) but I'd really be curious to know if JonAero1's thought about the camber adjustment bolt is possible.

After installing the shims, I plan to put on a set of Nexen N5000 tires. I'll post back in a few months with some initial results.

Thanks everyone for putting up with my endless questions and providing the benefit of your knowledge, experience, and optinions.
