I've towed a couple of my Corvairs with my '01 9-5. They weigh in about 2500 lbs. I tow them with an A-frame hitch that bolts on in place of the front bumper, with a wiring harness that replaces the taillights. The towed car keeps all 4 wheels on the ground so there basically is no weight on the hitch.
The weight isn't a problem EXCEPT that it was very hard to keep the transmission in top gear.
To pull the 9000, you probably want to use a car dolly rather than pulling off the front bumper and rigging an A-frame. The dolly will weigh close to 1000lbs on its own. So you will be well above the recommended towing weight limit.
I would suggest renting a tow dolly and magnetic light kit, and borrowing or renting a truck or SUV to pull it. For 80 miles (that's not far), you might be just as far ahead to get a flatbed to load it up and haul it for you (you'll burn close to 20 gallons of gas with a good sized truck hauling a tow dolly and car that far, plus your rental costs, and time and inconvenience).
