You say “smoking from tailpipe AND smoke from dipstick”
That indicates a bad head gasket I think, or maybe the piston rings aren’t sealing.
Your burning oil and it goes out the tail pipe.
And some of the exhaust gets sucked into the engine block and comes out the dipstick.
For it to come out the dipstick like that the block is getting pressurized…

The dripping on the drive way could be transmission fluid too. The seal between the torque convertor and the transmission may have been damage when they fitted it to the engine. I don’t think they could have hurt the engine main seal because its shielded by the fly wheel. Although at 175 miles it should have been replaced while they had the trans off.
